  • I will measure up my current set up. Bullmoose have 125mm stem length shall see if it matches. It's a real lottery buying bars. Come to the conclusion that I got the bars wrong on my Batavus: Nitto Noodles when I should have gone more compact. But it took me to working that out after I shortened the stem so had to rewrap one side of the bars. I could have done it at the time but now am loathe to buy more bartape and do it again.

  • I was considering moustache bars but I have never ridden them before so no idea if I will like them or not. I like the idea of those English dropbars, compact with narrow flat and splayed drops. I also wouldn't be having hood brakes: single hydraulic brake at the front. Apparently non-brifter hydraulic hood levers exist but it seems costly to only use one and have the other as a dead brake (but with extra hand positions).

  • No not yet unfortunately, I'm still waiting for some parts

  • That’s the thing with all the contact points on a bike, experimentation is the rule.

  • Forum recommended wide-ish 25.4 low riser bar?

  • Monkeylight? I really liked these too, though I thought they used to be 660mm

  • Just started taking my own bike to Newport track for the first time. Very excited to start dicking around with different ratios!
First up is seeing what difference I notice between 50x16 and 48x15.

  • Urban camouflage n shit... believe it or not there’s a bike in that pic. Since it’ll live outside I ditched the Prolites and went with something more appropriate (boring). New tyres and bartape are in the mail but can’t keep thinking that despite the fact that the frame is hot pink, as a whole the build turned out rather jaded and dull.

Edit: here’s another pic. It needs silver fenders, right?

  • Trying to work out what track groupset would work best with this. SBDU frame 8033 so made in '86. Maybe c-record? I do prefer the older campy though.

  • Your frame from 86, the Record Pista 86... I'd say it's a match!

  • Yes, that is what I meant by c-record.

  • Love the colour and the layback, looks fun.

  • Not much in the way of proper MTBing at the moment, and I was getting bored of the short stem/wide bar combo for commuting. I raided the parts bin and threw on some narrow old Orange Hot Road handlebars and a 90mm Hope red stem.
Few laps around the block and it feels rapid.

  • Is there any issue with having different spoke counts front and rear? Can get some cheap rims but they only have one 32 hole and lots of 28, so figured the 28 for the front and the 32 for the rear. I am not building them fyi

  • The majority of wheelsets have less at the front than rear

  • Apologies. This is my first day on the forum.

  • Hands down one of the nicest lobsters i ever seen!

  • Thank you! When i first bought it there were definitely a few ugly iterations....

  • Fitted. Loving them. Many stiff managed to achieve similar hand position

Bit franken but bike getting a reboot soon
