• Always liked the R5, never see the any more. Remember the GT Turbo advert from the 80's?

    Used to have one, crackers little car. Used to break seat back mounts, in the end had to get a fillet piece welded in. Light car, wide wheels, daft driver, it was a demon in the wet. Once aquaplaned across 3 lanes of the M1. Had it whilst my daughter was a baby, if we went on long trips had to tow a trailer to get all the gear in.
    Not surprised not many left, they invited driving dfatness.

  • Haha see that sounds like fun, modern cars need a bit more terror.

    It was all XR2 and XR3i's where I was growing up, so I rarely saw the R5 GT Turbo, sounds like its reputation as a proper hot hatch was justified :)

  • Lift off oversteer.

    They were just so quick, and so easily nickable that they were regular cat d beyond economic repair.
