The ride will likely be nicer on smaller wheels and bigger tyres.
Which given the type of driving it'll do makes sense.

But the other footballers wives will stop talking to you.

Why don't you stick 33" muddies on there?
-
• #50605
But really, chase down some smaller OEM wheels, there must be plenty available from owner forums/gumtree/eBay.

a bit much
So you're sorting the wheels, what about the rest of it?

anyone who has rolled through Much Hadham on the London to Cambridge run over the last 15 years may have noticed the little Renault garage there opposite the shop. It has always had a champagne coloured mark 5 in the 'showroom'
Well garage was open for once yesterday and the owner showed me around. 1983 R5 with just 23,000 on the clock. It is not for sale

Can someone please buy my Mini?
It needs love and time that I can give the first part of but not the second. -
• #50610
What's the details on it?
-

All I can say is the front seats are really comfy and supportive, and changing a clutch on one is a fucking mission as the lack of captive bolts and the gearbox being in front of the engine.

May I suggest a different pair of shoes?
You can’t get any feel for the pedals in carbon soles Sidi.
Perhaps a pair of Hi-Tec Squash, period correct too.

Always liked the R5, never see the any more. Remember the GT Turbo advert from the 80's? Also featuring cats=win.

1979 Mini E-
It started life as a mini E but has been rebuilt with a new gearbox, full strip to bare metal work and a proper racing roll-cage put in.
Stage 1 engine 1.3 Metro.
New Gearbox when the above work was done.
Yokohoma tyres.
Proper Mini Rally bucket seats.
Racing harnesses.
Paint/ Bodywork generally in good shape.
Reason for sale is simply I don't have the time to look after it properly. -

Used to have one, crackers little car. Used to break seat back mounts, in the end had to get a fillet piece welded in. Light car, wide wheels, daft driver, it was a demon in the wet. Once aquaplaned across 3 lanes of the M1. Had it whilst my daughter was a baby, if we went on long trips had to tow a trailer to get all the gear in.
Not surprised not many left, they invited driving dfatness. -

Auction estimate <£5k - seems like a bargain to me...

Haha see that sounds like fun, modern cars need a bit more terror.
It was all XR2 and XR3i's where I was growing up, so I rarely saw the R5 GT Turbo, sounds like its reputation as a proper hot hatch was justified :)

anyone use a roof box?
(i feel like i just ripped up my card typing that...)
They’re absolutely fucking massive.
I’d rather have extra sidewall and less chance of curbing them.
