I just said they probably don’t help - I certainly don’t think McDonald are the cause of obesity. I feel the same way about fast food in general, it’s just we were talking about McDonald’s in particular.
I think if you sell unhealthy food marketed to kids, you shoulder at least some of the responsibility if they all get obese.
There are about 1,000 branches of McDonald's in England. There are about 60,000 other takeaways in England.
Deep pan pizza, Chinese, fried chicken, even Greggs offer more calorific food than McDomalds serve. I appreciate that McDonalds do it in a particularly child "friendly" way but I do also think that McDonalds is the low hanging fruit in the battle against obesity.
Deliveroo, justeat, Uber eats all play their parts. School meals are generally unhealthy. Home cooking doesn't exactly keep people slim a lot of the time. The UK has a nutrition problem, not a Mcdonalds problem.
