+1 for ultrasonic cleaner. £30 on Amazon - just don't put the whole watch in; the vibrations will almost certainly help water penetrate the seals on a waterproof watch.
I've actually torture tested a watch case by repeatedly cleaning it ultrasonically. Water ingress was never a problem.
What I do worry about is what happens to lube in the movement.
Either way, as you say, bad idea!
