I can't speak for the Ultrafines, but at work we've 80-odd of the 27UD850s for graphics work and they're pretty great.

Has this keyboard shit with the MacBook pros been sorted now, by the way?
-
• #14579
Ah great, thanks. I think that’s what I’ll end up going for tbh. Unless someone can convince me of how much better the Ultrafines are or if I find a secondhand 23.7 inch 4K still under warranty.
I wish there were some more 24” 4K options.

We started shopping round for them a couple of years ago and there are really limited options for usb-c screens that also act as USB hubs. Really solid monitor imo.

Presume you mean 27UK850
@Fyoosh
I ended up getting a pair of the 27UK650's for home. The panel is the same, they just don't have the speakers. But I have decent speakers so I don't need ones built into the monitor (and certainly not at the premium the 850 is over the 650)
They're also as cheap as they've been on Amazon at the moment

@seager yeh they look like the best bet.
@duncs I definitely want USB-C so that rules out the better priced 650. Was going to go for the 27UK850 but the 27UL850 is cheaper currently and seems to have all the same features. Not really sure what the difference between them is.

I noticed this in a review of an Iphone
It’s also worth noting that iOS 13 includes a battery optimisation feature, which is designed to learn your habits and only charge the battery past 80% when it thinks you need it to extend its longevity. How's this going to work in reality? How is it going to know when I'll be spending the day on the train and need as much battery as possible or whatever or have I totally missed the point of this feature?
-
• #14584
It’s more to do with learning when you unplug in the morning - it’ll charge up to 80% and then keep it there until finishing the rest of the charge a couple of hours before you usually pick it up. The less time a battery sits at 100%, the better.

Does anybody know how to stop Outlook opening attachments as read-only mode in MS Office for Mac? Unfortunately I'm forced to use the MS Suite, and this is getting really frustrating. All the possibilities I can see to turn off this function only apply to the PC version, not Mac.
Any ideas?

what method/provider do you use to back up your macbooks? Sister's macbook got stolen from her flat recently and it reminded me I really need to properly back my shit up

Macbook is 450g lighter than my MBP. For £1,300. 0.92kg plays 1.37kg.

Anyone selling a 13" macbook, not super fussed on hardware but not bottom end. Photo editing and light video.
Or anyone recommend a place for refurbed ones?

Or anyone recommend a place for refurbed ones?
hoxton macs or apple's own refurb store

Christ. Even on a refurbed it's still hipster tax. I forgot how much macs are for what you get.

I bought a second hand 2017 macbook pro from a shop in Angel, the shop is called Discovery Info Systems. This is their ebay shop called Macansys.

I bought it on ebay then collected it in person, it's given me no problem and I felt better about getting it from a local place that I could take it back to in person if needed. -

I think the performance diff between a mid 2017 and mid 2018 is big, check here: http://browser.geekbench.com/mac-benchmarks

Never really looked at this before but quite interesting. Why for example under 'multi core' would recent MacBook pros absolutely destroy everything except iMac pro/Mac Pro? Whereas single core it's much of a muchness.
Thinking of trading my late 2015 iMac for a new macbook pro. The top mbp beats it on both counts but on single core only by 100 points or so.
