My LBS's view is that both Shimano and SRAM seem to fail with roughly the same frequency but Shimano tend to fail just within the warranty period, or carry on for ages, whereas SRAM fail just after the warranty period.
Only Shimano I have known to be an issue are the 785 callipers, swap those out and job done.
What's the problem with the 785s? I've got some of those, although I haven't used them yet.
