Well reasoned, thoughtful post. there is bandwagoning from all sides and when everyone piles into one person, however 'correct' the initial motives, it ceases to be constructive. I know I've been guilty of this at times.

The place has changed significantly, I seem to to remember lots of paedo bear jokes etc when I first joined. There used to be many more off key posts and that rough and tumble humour was part of the forum. Over time this has changed and I think a few of us have been caught off guard as social standards have changed (and generally improved). These days we are a much more informed and possibly less exclusive bunch of people.
I don’t get the impression that @Señor_Bear meant to cause such upset by posting a poor taste joke.
I took his enquiry re why “gammon” as a term is tolerated here to be genuine and not simply stirring. However I can see how the continued aggression towards him might make it harder for him to back. It is sad to see how the aggressive divisive tone of public discussion has become so entrenched here too.
