I had 38c vittoria hypers under them, on mavic a719 or some other wide touring rim. The guards were wide enough, just. I don't know what difference the little knobblies will have

Nice, looks like that's what I'll go for then. What pump is that?
-
• #4308
Yeah I run PDWs with GravelKing 38s - fit fine
-
• #4309
Thanks i’m pretty happy with it! Pump is a Silca, not cheap but hands down the best frame pump. I have another one for sale if your interested!

The length of steerer is troubling, I'm sure there is a logical explanation. Forks on loan perhaps?
-
• #4311
There isn't a good explanation beyond wanting to be able to raise the bars for future tours. Prettiness had to come second
-
• #4312
@alialias Yes, fair enough. Mud guard fit looks spot on and the bike obviously gets out and about which is what matters.

Do you have a link to / name of the extender you were using before you switched to the PDW guards? Cheers
-
• #4314
The extender were for racks that I used to have at my last jobs.
You should be able to find some from LBS having spares.
-
• #4315
Ok I'll have a look. Google didn't throw up anything so hopefully my local shop will.

FYI: I’ve used Zefal Paragon C40 and C50’s on two separate bikes. The C40’s over 700x32 and the C50’s over 700x40 tyres. I have no idea why, but they don’t go down far enough at the chainstay bridge on either bike. I’ve fixed it one bike with an old Ass Saver, but it’s a dumb design.

700x35 mudguards fine (clearance-wide) for use with 700x32 tyres? internet seems to suggest going bigger
-
• #4318
add 10mm at least on top of tyre width
-
• #4319
anyone know where I can get some band on mounts like pictured (flinger race pro), without having to purchase the whole mudguards.

I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere in the last 173 pages but what are my best bets for guards for a bike with relatively tight clearances, no mounts and 28mm tyres? Not looking to break the bank!

Does anyone know if the largest PDW fenders would fit a 38mm Panaracer GK slick?
https://www.condorcycles.com/products/portland-design-works-full-metal-fenders-city
^ this suggests a max width of 35mm but am wondering what anyone with experience of these has to say. Cheers
