Mavic Aksium Disc bearings

Posted on
  • Hi - anyone know the bearing sizes for a front Aksium Disc in Centrelock flavour?

I thought it was 6804 on both sides but the disc side of the hub shell seems smaller than the bearing - am I missing something?

    Cheers,
    John

  • Searched the Mavic site with the serial number from the wheel & it should defo be 6804 in the hub - here's pics of the actual bearing that was removed from the non disc side sitting in both sides of the hub... wtf? The disc side bearing was mullered to death upon removal before I realized this issue so I don't have the shrapnel from the other bearing to compare...

Unless I'm supposed to heeft the disc side bearing across from the other side of the hub shell, is this a thing?

It’s a thing. I have a bmx hub where both the bearings go in from one side of the hub.

Should be easy to tell, was there a shoulder in the hub shell that the non disc side bearing sat down onto or was it a straight bore through?

  • What year and serial # is it? Mavic seem to change their bearing spec for Aksium disc every year. All their tech docs are on the site with exploded views of the hubs

  • Cheers guys - looks like both press in from the non disc side after all, the disc side has a bit of a lip but other than that and a couple of circlips it's a straight bore right through the axle - just seemed like a bizarre thing to do, but thinking about it with the axle size and the Centrelock spline size being the limiting factors there's no much room for a decent sized bearing to go in from the disc side really...

    Cheers!
