Could be worse. When I ordered my Lynskey frameset, they sent it to the wrong country.

Dusting off a classic from the archives today

Ok I think it is time to retire my old softshell. Can't complain, I got 10 years out of it. The inside seam on the arms has worn through in multiple places. Still I am going to get it repaired.
Now I would buy another in a heartbeat but they don't do it. I also had the Rapha rain jacket which lasted maybe two years before falling to bits. IIRC I paid £140 for that.
So looking at the website I take it the winter coat @ £260 is the inheritor of the classic softshell? The hooded rain jacket @ £230 also looks very decent.
And then there is a commuter jacket for £100. I am guessing that is a glorified rain coat. £200 + is much more than I would like to pay but then if I get another ten years out of it then its worth it.
And lastly another other suggestions? I have the Swrve softshell but I hate its cavernous rear pocket and really bulky sleeves and cuff. Its also gets too toasty unless it is proper cold.

The pending shake dry?
Everyone I've met who has one loves it. -

I have a quecha softshell from decathlon, it won't die and is my go to jacket for day to day.
The new one has some more breathable material on the side panel.Arcteryx will do something very nice and spendy, montane will do something nice but cheaper.

They’ve just gone live for RCC

Hopefully they don't sell out too fast!

£220. in line with other shakedrys, slightly cheaper even (against RRP)

the cuffs on that explore jacket are a massive flaw, with no zip or velcro cuff you can't easily put it over gloves and all water will go into your gloves. Unless I'm missing it from the image.

No votes for the Rapha options then?

I'm in exactly the same boat.
Just about to retire the City jacket in orange, which I've had since 2012, I think.
I'm thinking of the hooded rain jacket as well, but £230 is steep. However maybe I don't mind spending decent money on a jacket if I'm going to get 7 years out of it.
I see Vulpine still do their Harrington, but I'm wary of it as god knows who's making them now and I can't see one IRL to gauge quality.

I'm well stoked on the insulated one but that needs to wait for pay day
-
• #33617
It looks good but I'm not sure there is an advantage over just layers? Well beside hood obviously!
-
• #33618
I only got my first long sleeve jersey last week. What is this layering you speak of?
-
• #33619
Well I plan to wear the non insulated one and if cold an insulated gilet underneath.
You then have two garments as opposed to one equalling more flexibility? -
• #33620
Can you link to them at all?

The Gore will replace my current pro team race cape that i've put a hole in and isn't so breathable.
-
• #33624
Not even with a hole in?

Warm arms?
Yeah, but I love to complain.
