{ Apologies ^ this was a bit glib – Orban's entire appeal domestically is textbook strong-man politics and it's working quite well for him. He's in conflict with the EU who have imposed sanctions in response to his government silencing media, hobbling NGO's who aid migrants and interference in the judiciary }

what's in it for hungary? why would they sour their relationship with the EU26 just to suck up to their alt-right pals in the UK gov? bit of a high risk strategy for orban, both in terms of his standing w/the rest of the visehrad group and the EU26.
