Job hunting.
Recruiters who ghost you after an interview. Maybe I'm hideously ugly. -
• #12553
With the sheer scale of applications that any job gets, it's not unreasonable to not follow up a CV submission and explain rejection. But if you take a candidate as far as face-to-face, you damn well should follow up. Even if they get no further than phone interview, it's good to at least give them an idea of the time frame in which a decision about the next step will be made so they can enquire if they hear nothing after that.
So many places
- are shit at recruitment
- only think of their needs and not the applicant's
- have a delusional belief that their organisation is so awesome that applicants should be grateful to have been considered at all
- have no concept of the reputational damage from their shit behaviour
- are shit at recruitment

Yep, 100% agree. I know each position gets 100's of applications, so I fully expect each failed applicant to be sent only an automated response (although most places can't even manage that). But if I see you, shake your hand, and you say you'll get back to me, you'd better do it.

O365
I'm currently enjoying a presentation on rollout of more tools
Delve, to-do, Akari personal, Planner, Forms. They've had to make a periodic table to visualise what all the different parts do.
I crave simplicity! -

Planner
This one is basically Trello but with extra passive-aggression.
-
• #12557
Planner doesn't let you edit the time for a task when imported into Outlook Calendar
How f-ing stupid is that?! Every task is an all day event - yay!

That's pretty much my velocity rite now

Amazon answers never cease to amaze.

This is an error in blame of Amazon's requests for people to answer questions about products that were purchased. People buy things and then get emails under the impression that a user is specifically asking them a question. So they respond as if it was a private message. I've made this mistake too. Of course I remedied it when I saw it was a public answer.

people that send out a list of dates to a mailing list, instead of using doodle or at the very least a table....

Snoring. That wheeze, SNORE, wheeze SNORE. Time to go to sleep? OK. Wait what's that noise?
You are making a noise to stop me sleeping, while sleeping?

Ha, yeah. And if you wake them up, you’re the bad guy!

I'm not snoring, I wasn't even asleep!

My missus was snoozing on the sofa last night, made "merb!" noise, woke herself up and asked me why I woke her.
(Edit, no hate though, I thought it was cute and she laughed when I said she woke herself up)

Last night my wife said loudly "larder" or "Lada".
I'm not sure she's that keen on Russian cars and we don't have a larder. -

My youngest (18mo) rarely makes noises when she’s asleep, but the other day I heard a magnificent ‘ROAAAAARRR!!!!’ Through the baby monitor. Had a look and she was fast asleep, so it must have been a fun dream.

Deliveroo users. I know a few people who deliver for them and I gather that almost none of the customers ever tip. Which makes them a bunch of lazy cunts.

At least you have definitive options for that next tricky anniversary present.

Is it British culture to tip for a delivery?
I’ve always been in two minds. I gave a driver £20 after he helped me out by spending ages positioning a wagon so he could lift some stone straight into my garden.
I never order takeaways but I’m not sure I’d tip a driver.

Best of both worlds

Deliveroo = shit gig economy. The tips make a big difference to the riders/drivers. This kind of service has made a huge difference to couch potatoes since the days (not that long ago) when only a few places did deliveries and they had a limited range. The tip option is right there on the page by the "pay for your food" button.
Managed to swerve CDG on Friday in favour of the train, hopefully that’s not delayed.
