To suck the air out from the calliper end?

Used to have one of those kits back in the Mono-mini days. Now I just use a couple of Syringes.
-
• #14608
I'd attach to the highest point on the circuit
But as above I use syringes to fhe same effect.

I just push up bleed up from the calliper on my X2s and E4s. Syphon off the ruined fluid with the other syringe. Works fine for me.
Edit; reason is cant attach a reservoir like shimano hydros. But i wouldnt have Shimano hydro on an mtb. Shimano road use std method from reservoir at lever. -

Agree, push up bleed on an X2 can be done in 10 minutes and is pretty easy. But it's a little messy.
I remember doing old Avid Juicys and Hayes Nines, and while they were more difficult to get air out of, it was tidier (that roll over reservoir seal on the Hopes means dot fluid everywhere).
Personally I prefer shimanos. Dot fluid is nasty.

that roll over reservoir seal on the Hopes means dot fluid everywhere
Yeah - I do ask why each time I do it...
-
• #14613
Don't get too excited it's not nearly long enough for you.

I've got an easy bleed kit, with the top plate and reservoir, I guess this doesn't make any difference if you're pushing the fluid up from the bottom?
-
• #14615
Could you fit it instead of stopping to syphon off old fluid from the reservoir when bleeding from the bottom? Push new fluid in at the calliper, pipe the old off to a bottle and stop when it runs clear?
I guess if you are doing that then its just as easy to fit the top plate and reservoir and pull through from the calliper. Tbh I didnt know there was a bleed kit for tech3 levers. Think I might invest in one in the spring when I generally bleed both sets I have. -

Canvassing opinion
If you had £600 ish to spend on a hard tail mtb for day rides on South Downs what would you buy?
If I was buying a new road bike I’d buy a canyon so this was my starting point
https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/mountain-bikes/trail-bikes/grand-canyon/grand-canyon-al-5.0/2032.html#all-components-section-tabOr as I’ve become a bit obsessed with decathlon
https://www.decathlon.co.uk/xc-50-mountain-bike-sram-nx-29-id_8548144.html
Not in a rush as I’ve built up my old Kona but got one eye on end of year sales or the right thing to come up secondhand

buy my pinnacle iroko for £400
Edit: Unless @jono84 wants it back?

• #14618
You'd best be replacing that, young man

Didn’t he have that deposit for a titanium frame?
-
• #14620
still do! right now I am just not getting enough time to do MTB or any cycling tbh, just commute and gym
-
• #14621
That'll be a Ti cargo bike by now

For £600, and a hardtail, I'd go second hand - get far more for your money. Eg something like this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scott-Scale-710-Medium-Carbon-Hardtail-XC-Mountain-Bike-Shimano-XT-Cross-Country/143397026371?hash=item216320fa43:g:jvMAAOSw8mRdj5aq .
Would be looking for sensible geometry, 4 or 5" forks by one of the big manufacturers (rockshox, fox if you're lucky), 29" wheels, and not too many miles.
Would also think about if you want to do anything else. South Downs way is beautiful, but not very technical. If you may want to do more down the line, worth thinking about something aimed at more than just XC.

Titanium Peloton bike?

Anyone serviced a Rockshox shock before? Air Spring and Damper? Worth investing in the tools to DIY it or get a pro to do it?
Also have the option to buy a new Fox Float Evol Factory for not much more than it would cost to get the Monarch RT I have serviced. Hmmm.

Also, someone pre-order the new On-One Scandal so I don't have to. Looks like an immense bike for the money.
Cannondale made a 160mm travel hardtail?
