Cargo Bikes

Would prefer it to handle better and fit median sized people.

Almost aquired everything needed to build. Took it out the box to give myself a kick up the arse.

It will be getting a lot of silver parts. The rear hub is pretty tatty and the front is NOS so debating if I should get the rear reanodised. Could strip/polish both but not sure how sensible that is for all weather riding.

I don’t get cargo bikes without mudguards and a dynamo lights set up ... too pretty to get dirty and lug shit around?

Hmm... Seems to work fine for the median-sized people that buy them from our shop. Maybe not used to more traditional cargo handling characteristics?

I’ll bet fenders will find their way on to this bike sooner rather than later.

Looks terrific by the way, though I personally would require narrower bars with a wrist friendly bend to them.

Trying to find my tap measure, I’ve have a mini maxi with a full cargo rack with extender bar and mudguards and I have a 3 inches of clearance from a fairly standard ceiling hight.

I’ll find my tap measure tonight.

Did you adjust the handlebars and seatpost? I found it has an excellent fit and handling. The slack seat tube indeed prevents tedious balancing at stops or starts.

Ridden pretty much every cargo there is including those XYZ jobs (look a bit like a product launch event stand with wheels on). Found when riding a UA that I do a tiny zig zag constantly, not sure if steering head angle/seat tube angle/BB so far forward/steering ratio/combination of all those things. They do have good payload solutions.

Yeah I like them (urban arrow) e assist pretty essential though.

Handle really well with big heavy loads.. the XL Can take 2x adults on the front with relative ease.

At work they’ve swapped the stock handlebars for bullmoose, which I think makes them handle better / less flexy.

While I think of it, could I ask a favour from a Bullitt and an Omnium owner? Could you take a pic of the joints at both ends of your steering rods? I’m looking for a good pic of the joint setup at the fork end and what’s on the steerer tube end. Mine has like this ball joint at the fork end and a double roller at the steerer end. I can see what they’ve done, it’s to stop the steering rod flopping down with the bend, but it rattles something chronic and it’s driving me mad! Maybe the Omnium won’t have what I’m looking for, because I think it has a straight steering rod, but the Bullitt must have the same cranked rod like mine.

Two weeks ago I saw somebody in my street with one of those; not the normal Bullit-type setup though, it was more like some sort of "car" (frame going all around him), the whole apparatus stuffed with vast amounts of cargo (read: crap).
Should have taken a quick picture really, that thing was quite something.

I have a bullitt. Same - basically - on the front end with a ball joint, but on the right side of the bike. The push rod is an elbow bent round rod to get around the wheel when turned left. It would twist and "fall down" as you say, except back end clamps into the steering apparatus preventing any twisting movement. Makes no noise.

My omnium is 215cm standing on its front end. As I said it’s got the extender bar and guards.

Ok so mine does have pretty much the same double joint setup as the Bullitt, on the steerer end. I think I might have to take it off and check it’s not got a bit worn down the side of one of the rollers.
