This is top tool modding!
I think you’ve given me an idea how to make an adjustable freewheel tool...

beater
Appropriate typo is appropriate

The correct tool is obviously a hammer and screwdriver.

Apropriate tool making is definitely not a bodge.. Good work!

My take on the Rivendell shifters, inspired by https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/ghetto-shift-warning-cx-bodging-pic-heavy/with parts bin levers and suntour m90 bar shifters. Was a lot easier than anticipated, I’ll ride like this for a bit, before I decide on any improvements. -

Nice!
How does these feel to use? -

Been wanting to do this for ages. Looks proper cool!

Did you tap/thread the lever, or make the dowel pin locating hole or anything?
Seems on that thread it was necessary to stop it coming loose. Then again that’s what loctite’s for.

Honestly I don’t know if I prefer it to the 8sp 105 brifter I had on before, but I don’t like how much throw the brifter needs to engage. With this it’s a short click and that’s it. It’s quite satisfying.

No, but I did remove the lever from the body and was able to tighten up the nut good and proper. Time will tell if that’s good enough, if not it’s a five minute job to disassemble and add loctite/glue.
Plus one of my cats jumped up on my bike and caused it to topple right onto the lever, and it hasn’t budged so far. -

Do it, I was amazed at how little of a challenge it finally was.

Won't the crank arm hit the protruding bolts as you pedal?

Thanks man, here you go:
Excuse all the feet. -

Great stuff. I've been thinking about doing something similar for years.

Have got my hands on a Carradice bar bag. I’d like it to sit a little lower than the rixen kaul brackets allow.
Ideally I’d like to bodge a budget alternative to nitto lamp holder using an old handlebar.
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/lighting-spares/nitto-lamp-holder-2-260mm/
Any suggestions on how to create clamps / source for cheap?
£60 for this seems excessive, even by our new LFGSS golf club standards.

If you can find a set of Cinelli Spinacci cheap enough they'd do much the same job. PX were flogging them off for buttons a wee while ago but don't seem to have any left.

Looked at eBay and Amazon but not sure I trust the brackets. So have gone for the quality assured Planet X offering.
Will report back shortly.

Genetic make a small one too, might be a starting point
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/accessories/genetic-neuron-accessory-bar/
It’s a pedalboard for guitar effects. Wanted to remove the tiny feet and raise it up so I could strap the power supply underneath.
