  • Deore m6000 are best value. Beware deore and upper tier models all have ceramic pistons which are fragile if you jam your rotor into them when changing wheels or try to push them back in with a screwdriver, they crack and then spray a fine mist of hydro oil over everything, see it every week in my workshop. Its not that they are faulty, just been used a bit harshly.

    Alivio/acera MT400 sort of level are like £30 a brake, don't have servo wave (some folks don't like the immediate bang of power) or ceramic pistons. change the stock resin pads for quality sintered not ebay specials and you'll have a solid reliable cheap brake.
