  • commentary said it costs 14 watts on average

  • Am guessing his goose was already cooked by that point.

  • To absolutely no ones surprise, Bahrain-Merida have terminated Rohan Dennis’ contract.

Supposedly terminated a couple of weeks back but the announcement was withheld to let him race the Worlds with less stress. That said, he's supposedly taking it to arbitration. You'd have thought he wouldn't be keen to race for them again but perhaps it's more about not being able to find a good team for 2020.

  • Probably, but 14w over threshold is going to cook you fast.
A cup of warm tea and half a loaf of soreen and he would have won easy.

  • Might be more about the terms/ financial settlements than racing.

  • Isn’t he a climber/GC rider?

  • Worlds will be hilly over in flanders with every burg possible so it would favour him.

  • I’d wager a significant amount of money that he never rides Flanders in his pro career.

  • Just wait til he sees the Pinarello TT bike.

  • Andrey Amador is meant to be the latest in a long line of Movistar domestiques who takes the Ineos/Sky dollars.

  • I spent the last three days in Yorkshire...
Friday - u23 race great, found a nice little tent on the finish line where we could watch the race on big screens and run outside to see them whizz last.
Saturday - up to Lofthouse to see the Women. Amazing. Then a rush down the Masham to watch the last 80k on the big screen with pub, fish and chip shop and coffee shop around the market square. Blue skies and a great atmosphere.
Sunday - headed off to Harrogate and drove round looking for a parking space. Once found we walked in against a torrent of leaving spectators who’d already given up. First McDonalds for years as it was dry and they had a seat. everywhere indoors with a screen was rammed. The Zwift/Signa pop up had a good atmosphere. Eventually went out onto the circuit at the bottom of Parliament St. Got absolutely drowned but there was a big screen there to keep up to date with what was going on. The Rollapoluza guys were in the bed shop opposite racing in the window.
We heard the issue with the plane was it ran out of fuel. If this is the case then it is pretty predictable and the UCI should have had contingency plans (remember Bergen 2017?) although the flight tracker shows it may have done more loops than anticipated.
Despite the weather the atmosphere was pretty good and if it had been dry I’m certain the circuit would have been lined in its entirety.

  • I guess we're just burning them all as domestiques. Rowe and Stannard could have had better one-day careers. Kennaugh always struck me as really talented but undervalued.

  • Greipel leaving Arkea a year early. I really hope he isn’t retiring. Even arkea-samsic seem to acknowledge his personality and humanity.

  • To be replaced by Bouhanni and Dan McLay.

  • De La Cruz also Team Sky 2 - Electric Boogaloo Bahrain Merida- bound

  • The rumour mill had him going to Cofidis.

  • Israel Cycling Academy confirmed to be taking over the Katusha WT license, pending UCI approval.

No news yet on the eleven riders with valid contracts with Katusha for next season.

  • Need @umop3pisdn to speak to Dowsett.

  • He’s signed for UAE.

  • I've done it again haven't I.

  • To be fair he got a much better result in Yorkshire than I expected.

  • Ciro Scognamiglio reporting that Dr Giorgio Squinzi has died, the owner of Mapei, sponsor of the eponymous team.

  • That’s a shame. He’s been a generous supporter of the sport for yonks. The company had a huge presence at the worlds last weekend
