I’m sure no one else other than I has had problems with the 2 bolt, but I prefer the single.

That’s a shame, I quite liked that about it

What problems did you have?

Twice I lost some parts while riding (and miraculously found them). Never was able to satisfactorily tighten both down. Maybe the threads were too coarse or I’m just an idiot, but that never happened to me with a previous Campagnolo post.

Working on this 1978 Peugeot PSN10 (I think) in Reynolds 531.
It had tubs so going back to clinchers and my friend is after a more relaxed position so I swapped the bars to ones with a slight sweep.
Apart from a good clean, it needs a new chain, brake pads all around, recabling and it should make a lovely town bike.

I've fitted wheels like that. They're generally pretty awful. Need a lot of truing. Also its more difficult to get a good freewheel nowadays. Tends to be an awful lot of crap that wobbles about all over the place.
Probably ok for a beater if you true it up.
I'd spend a bit more and get a base model cassette hub and name brand rim personally. Madison used to do a Deore hub to Mavic rim for about £70. I'd not go much below that personally (but then I ride my beaters more than my nice bikes). I spent a bit more and got something with Novatec hubs.

Lovely! There's a good pretty amount of tyre clearance on these too, right?
-
• #124312
There is yes!
Depending on tyre tolerances, you could run up to 30mm tyres with mudguards or up to 35mm without.
Funny how most new modern gravel/touring bikes re-use that late 70's geo & clearance

I hate it that all you forrins have access to such a deep well of older quality frames.

That doesn’t erase the 6300 kms between us ;-(

I've got a friend who bloody loves truing wheels (He's a psycho) but the whole freewheel/freehub thing does give me pause.
I'll amend my budget accordingly.

Is there any problem with having two of these on the chain (with a fixed transmission), so I can swap between two slightly different chain lengths?

What headset is that?

It's fine, but you might want to put your spring clips on the inside to reduce the chance of snagging.

Current setup. Need to cut my steerer but loving swept bars

Excellent, will do. For the 2 gearings I use, I couldn’t avoid being right at the end of the dropouts, or hitting the tyre on the bridge.

winter road bike thread?
Normal road bike thread from 5 to 10 years ago
Lovely tho. Like the fork crown detail. My brother had a part gold plated Rossin Record but it didn't like the UK weather much and the paint was quite fragile.
