They're pretty cool but agricultural as hell. Always wanted one though...
Our 'farm' back home in NZ just has a path through a field for a driveway, so I'd like to get the folks a small 4x4. They have a 4x4 wagon currently but it has f all ground clearance. They'd need something bigger than a Jimney, maybe a Vitara would be OK. I don't have much experience with car-like 4x4s except rental cars, and the newish Rav4s are shiiiit.
You'll find in NZ that defenders aren't common or liked as much, but the Toyota Hilux is king.
As much as we love them in UK, Landies do break down a lot compared to a Toyota (newer Hiluxes have some issues though I hear).
Also, Jimneys can embarrass defenders. The 4x4 clubs love them. They're just too small...
