  • Univega is banging. Is it the angle of the shot playing tricks or does it have asymetric chainstays?

  • I am pretty certain they are symmetrical

  • Would love to see the Univega become a 29er.

Would also love to take it off your hands, either before, but rather after fettling :-)

  • Where do you live? And what size would you need? I was thinking of building this up for myself and making it a home for my Paul Klampers

  • I live in Stockholm, but have family in copenhagen. Been planning to go south some time before New Years.

Sorry, what size? Dealing with a dads hangover here.

  • Size of frame, length of head tube etc.
How tall are you? I am just wondering if it will fit you?
If it needs to fit me I need to remove top tube as well and put in a loooong head tube.
If it could fit you as it is I could just replace 1" headtube with a 1 1/8"

  • Ah, yeah. Well I’m 186 tall. For a road bike I would look for a 58cm frame. Currently ride a 19” Marin which is a bit too small but works with a tall stack stem. Would try and turn this into some sort of drop bar gravel tourer thing. The Marin is too small for me to put drop bars on. I’m no bike geometry wiz that can quote precise stack and reach unfortunately. Maybe your educated guess holds the answer to weather it’s good enough :-)

(If it had a disc tab I would have a great reason to get a pair of Klampers myself)

  • Sounds like same size as me then. I'll carry on and then we can chat.

  • Cool! Looking forward to seeing your magic any scenario.

  • What fork is that ob the Trek?

  • That's an All City Nature boy fork.

  • Repurposed Spinner dropouts

  • I brought my daughter into the workshop today so I couldn't actually do any framebuilding.

But I got some projects lined up nicely ready to go when I find the time.

One of them is making a sweet stem for my SSMTB.
The idea is to shorten this GT stem a bit and convert it to 31.8mm handle bars and pantograph the faceplate using the old GT logo.

  • Looks more like a hard tail with rigid forks (but still sick ofc)

  • My man!

Will you replace the headtube entirely or just add onto the top of it?

  • Replace completely. Current one is 1".

  • Nice! this and current Fista IG has led to an Univega-alert on eBay.

  • @bankiren is a top influencer :)

There are some nicer ones out there than the one I have. With 1 1/8" head tubes and 27.2 ID seat tubes and build of better and lighter steel.

  • Slacken it out a bit at the same time?

I’d love to slacken my Humuhumu out and maybe change to a tapered headtube but I can’t afford to lose any toptube length, gaining some would even be good but then it starts to get simpler to just build a complete new frame.
