The pawls operate against a stepped surface, flipping the pawls will just make the engagement iffy:
You'd be better off replacing the pawls with lumps which can't move, or getting a custom "freehub" body machined with matching serrations instead of pawls.

Thread dredge. Does anyone know if a readily available OTP hub exists for this yet? Or is the answer still Surly, rare and expensive, or custom

I got a PAUL WORD hub, 12mm TA fixed 6-bolt.
They also have a QR and bolt on versions. https://www.paulcomp.com/shop/components/hubs/rear-hubs/fixed-disk-word/

I'm about to go down the Paul route. Need to shift some Mack hubs to fund..

What spec?

Thought this might be the case. SS it is

I’m happy with my surly. It’s expensive but not crazily so (especially if the other option is from Paul).
And I’ve been told afterwards I could have used some niche mtb hub (downhill? Freestyle? I was told the exact name and forgot) that are disc/fixed as the freewheel is on the cranks.

20/24, super light in black

^ Trials hubs are fixed and disc because of the freewheel cranks but they don't usually have lockring threads because they're never pedaled backwards (coz of said cranks)

A splined one could work
116mm though

That is a good idea.

Yes, trial is the word I was looking for !

https://www.tartybikes.co.uk/135mm_fixed_hubs/echo_tr_splined_135_rear_disc/c21p11450.html?
This is a 135 version. Chainline 47mm with their sprockets (only ones you can use, 15t max). So as long as youre happy with that as a max sprocket...this is the holy grail? £120 for hub and sprocket is cheaper than Surly

I haven't gotten around to building my wheel yet but my plan was to take a 6 bolt screw on disc adapter and mount it on the threads on a ss hub and use a bolt on cog on the actual 6 bolt mount on the nds of the hub.

I got one of these from eBay and about to do something similar on the commuter. It cost 48p so what could possibly go wrong.

• #45
Haha. I got a nice one and a cheap one. Nicer one looks nice. Cheap one looks shite

Should be safe as long as you don't intend to brake whilst rolling backwards down a big hill 🙃

Is there an equivalent for CL? Would save me buying 6 bolt rotors.

I have no idea. Sorry

Took some photos of my adapters today.

135mm? Is is that not what OLD means
But 120mm disc fixed hub! Thats niche. Do any OTP frames exist for that?
They are available fixed, contact Paul directly.
Come to think of it, they have a LOT of things that aren't on the site anymore. I snagged a 36t 3/32" chainring from them once that I didn't even realize existed until I saw it on Paul's personal Black Cat.
