Very handsome build!
You might want to loosen the middle front stays. It looks like it tucks the mudguard in too much and makes the front go upwards. -

Ok I know from a search that this has been asked before but i’m hoping for some anecdotal evidence to help me make my mind up. Anyone personally tried PDW city genders (45mm) with 38c slick gravel kings? Less than the suggested 10mm of clearance I know... Otherwise are the GB 50mm guards my second best option for metal guards? Thanks!

cheers. I just need to bend the front bracket a bit to get the front down.

I had 38c voyager hypers under those guards, and it was fine. On a roomy frame though

I have those tyres under 45mm Mud Butler mudguards and the clearance is fine. Looks quite neat and tight, the 50mm guards may look a bit gappier but both would work fine.

Has anyone (@edscoble) seen/tried the Arkose guards?

Rear one is easy. ;)

I give ‘em a bit more room than I used to, so that if you look at the wheel from axle level you can’t see daylight between fender and tire. If there’s any difference in the gap it should be greater at the exit point so that if anything gets in it can also get out.

Yeah, they look pretty good with 2" horizons. Probably a bit big for a 42 tire, assuming you have enough room in your frame to fit them

I have a tonne (literal) of mudguard stays and fittings. Plus a pair of SKS chromoplastics (wide - at least 38c) in silver.
Does anyone want any of this? -
• #4263
These are the 26 inch 53mm bluemels. Rather have too much coverage than too little. Just need a front fork with mudguard mounts so I can have dry feet. And flaps. What are the forum recommended flaps right now?
-
• #4264
Got any bent stays for mid fork mounts? Or is it normal procedure to bend your own to fit
-
• #4265
I have no idea about bending stays. The ones I have are all vanilla and straight.
If you want to take them and bend them I am ok with that....
But I imagine you might want to buy ones that are pre bent if aesthetics are important. -

Anywhere to buy single mudguards? I've got a bike with two different wheel sizes and it seems a bit of a waste to buy two pairs.

Are Giles Berthoud only available in silver? I would like a black set for my Straggler, fitting them to 35mm gravelking slicks. Otherwise the Portland Design Works look good, bit more spendy though.

Check at recumbent dealers.

Any mudguard recommendations for the new Arkose w/ 45mm tyres? Need to get some ordered and fitted for my partner.

If you’re in London you could get them powdercoated by Aurum Finishings via Stayer in any colour you like. Not sure how much that would be but it should be doable.

Nice idea! Does anyone have any experience with PDW? Was initially going to try SKS but after a few failed experiments with them I'm apprehensive, plus a few on here are further putting me off that idea...

Urban arrow / omnium or cargo bike dealer might sell you a mismatched pair?

SKS are about the easiest to install.

SKS are fine, just plastic with aluminium core, fairly easy to fit, don't quite have the kudos of metal guards, you're not gonna gain Instagram points with SKS guards on yer bike.
Cheapish and cheerful, get a set of longish flaps whatever guards you go for.
I fitted a set of 45mm longboards last weekend to go over 35mm paselas. think they were £25 in the sale from Evans.
I'm tempted to replace the rubber flaps with something a bit more pliable as the front one looks like it could get caught up on high kerbs quite easily.
they kept me pretty dry last Monday morning on a damp commute. I guess the real test is going to come next week judging by the forecast…
