  • Must be I can't think of any other building that looks like it. Unless of course it's the reproduction of the Blackpool tower that they have in Vegas.

  • Holy shit. Hooooly shit.

Do you know the podcast 'It could happen here' by Robert Evans? (same guy also does a podcast called 'Behind the bastards', of varying quality)

He talks about how a new US civil war could come about, and how it could look - in a realistic way, not some conspiracy theory vein. Well, recruiting members of a 'task force', that's how you go about building up and organising one side of it.

  • Is that real?

  • I googled it because I had the same thought. Yes it is. More of a fundraising thing than anything else right now, but the idea alone...

This task force will be made up of only President Trump’s most LOYAL supporters, the ones committed to fighting for him, re-electing him, and taking back the House.

Fighting for him. You can bet some of his more rabid supporters will not see this as a metaphor.

  • That's real? Seriously? Fucking hell. I would've thought it was some kind of phishing scam for cunts.

  • I would've thought it was some kind of phishing scam for cunts.

    But it is though.

  • ha

  • It's all mad, but I particularly don't understand the bit where they claim to "double match" your pledge.

It seems to suggest that if you donate $50, they will bump it up to $150, but how? and who? Donald Trump himself?

Just how stupid are the target audience, and how does this shit not put off any of the slightly less stupid people I assume must be voting for him, or is half america really this thick?

  • QUESTION - is the impeachment investigation the preliminary stage before impeachment or is it the actual impeachment?
    Hope that makes sense

  • equating the personality of the leader with that of the state and measuring patriotism against a standard of personal loyalty to the leader sounds a little despotic...

  • It's the preliminary stage, makes it a formal investigation so they have a pretext to issue subpoenas etc. They may decide to hold a vote on impeachment which (I think) requires just a simple majority. If that passes, the president is impeached (as was Clinton). Then the Senate is supposed to hold a kind of trial with a judge, prosecution and defense followed by a vote on whether to convict which requires 2/3rds to pass. Given the current Senate it's pretty unlikely they'll hold the trial let alone vote to convict - afaik no president has ever been convicted following impeachment.

  • Thanks for taking the time to answer. I know have an idea what happened.
I did think that Nixon had been impeached and his replacement (Ford?) had pardoned him when he was elected - I may be mistaken.

  • Exactly right.

  • I believe Nixon resigned before he was impeached. Jumped before he was pushed.

  • Yeah he did.

  • Do I get a brown shirt and an arm band if join the Impeachment Defence Task Force ??? There are Bernie supporting commies to beat up.

  • Though I understand he was almost certain to be convicted - it would have run all the way.

I doubt the current Senate would even hold the trial, let alone convict. It seems this investigation is more about forcing Republican reps to go on record endorsing Trump's actions via vote. Remains to be seen if that's a winning strategy or will backfire badly..

  • Thanks. History isn’t my strong suit - obviously.

  • The writers of today's episode have got an amazing plot twist; we are about to find out Trump had a secret email server.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/MikeDelMoro/status/1177180977237581826

  • Trump denied any wrongdoing and suggested the Biden family [has] taken millions of dollars out of China.

So Trump is basically saying that he's taken millions of dollars out of China then?

  • Reading the whistleblower docs now.

This is incorrect. There was no secret mail server, the docs were stored on an airgapped network that is normally used for designated top secret material. Sure, weird that something low grade was treated like top secret info, but it doesnt appear that there were any non sanctioned networks or servers involved.

  • The whole thing reads like a straight up mafia protection racket; sending the ambassadors to explain how to "navigate the demands" of Don Cornholio

  • It might not be the worst thing he has done in office but it appears that it's the thing that the Dems think they have the most evidence of.
