Car appreciation... the aesthetics, the engineering, etc

Some time long ago, I saw a Vauxhall Calibra with a Ferrari body kit on it and I believe the tyres were 345 - huge doesn’t even come close.

I did wonder if my info was out of date. Still going to be a bit of a stretch to fit them on 14.5J rims. And I have a feeling the Veyron tyres are uncheap even by performance car tyre standards.

I remember reading somewhere that the Veyron tyres were £5k each and need replacing every 3k miles, ore sommat stupid like that.

Something like that and can only last 2 minutes at top speed!

I guess if you’ve got the £1m+ to buy one, you can afford the tyres...

ET50 front, ET59 rear, these will fit a narrow body car - they’re the rims you often see on modified GT3.

Or more likely, if you've got the money to invest in one and leave it in secure storage you'll never need to replace the tyres.

Can you de value the car by using it?

I can devalue any car just by sitting in the driver's seat.

Yep, use even by a normal, sane and sanitary human devalues it for a collector (see filed under 'somewhat less sane').

There’s a 997 sports classic that gets taken everywhere on a transporter to maintain its close to zero miles, valued at a few hundred thousand. The second you started using it you be losing a fortune. Bonkers.

If you're keeping a car to maintain its value why take it anywhere?

More to the point, why is it worth anything at all if you can’t use it?

There's not much that can match a tesla in a drag race these days. They are FAST under 100mph

The chap who I am collaborating with on the engine project has an 1,100 bhp 911 turbo- which would probably have a chance.

Not much else can match a Tesla as you say.
