Rotherhithe Movement Plan - Rotherhithe Cycleway

Posted on
  • The Rotherhithe Movement Plan and Rotherhithe Cycleway are up for consultation until 4th October here
this outlines a critical section in cycleway 4 along Lower Road and currently there is a lot of opposition from motorists so it would be great if some cyclists posted some positive responses to what is a very good scheme

  • @Oliver Schick I thought you might comment on this

  • The bike routes look ok but the whole thing seems to be centred on having two way traffic on Lower road which combined with the already messed up tunnel approach is going to make vehicular traffic a nightmare.

  • I went to a meeting a couple of weeks back run by the local councilors and there were quite a few pro cycling voices along with the usual 'road tax' dickheads. Meeting also addressed the failure to present plans for a bridge over the river that were in budget, apparently now considering a ferry Woolwich style....

  • Something that is going to be interesting is introducing street parking permits and new build projects will not be having parking facilities. It's going to make the Salter road peninsula interesting.

  • Thanks for the alert. I haven't read it yet, but I don't expect to find it particularly good. It'll be the usual mixture of a small number of good measures, e.g. two-way operation, with a lot of rubbish. Not sure I'll comment, as I usually only comment on things in my area.
