Alpina just revealed the B3 which is their take on the 3-series estate/touring!

Absolutely love alpina, but they have always struck me as much less hard edged or raw than M cars

In other words, I'd love to drive an alpina to the ring, but I'd rather lap the ring in an M car.

Not sure. Often BMW estates look as good or better than the saloons (see new M5) but I'm not so keen on this.

The saloon looks much better and I'd guess the cm³ increase is marginal.

I always wanted a Evo saloon.

I wonder if they'll appreciate better than the coupé as I'm pretty sure the E36 was the only M3 saloon (until the 4 series GT I guess). Plus pretty much every one out there has probably been ragged to shit, lowered and left to rust.

Fucking hell that's a lot of rubber

Doubt you'd get road rubber for them. I believe the Countach had the widest rear tyres ever used on a production car, and they were only 335/35s, on 12" wide rims.

No way they'd fit under my arches, or over my brakes - I've just ordered a set of these:
