(appears to be) a lightly used, poorly listed rim brake 650b wheelset on eBay today, if anyone is thinking about a conversion:

Cheaper than buying rims/spokes for sure. Would maybe check with the seller that they haven't put the wrong photos up or something before you end up paying for return shipping

Edit to add: actually maybe the front rim is a bit worn. Decide for yourself 🤷‍♂️

These mini velos seem to make the rounds 'round here every year or so.
I still like mine, but mostly for shits and giggles as 406/451 wheels just don't ride as well as full size.

Doesn't matter. Left both my Cielo and Niner unlocked all around Japan for a month, didn't get stolen.

yea whereas i got my commuter stolen yesterday from a keycard access bike locker in a secured garage secured further with a big 'ole chain lock.

I see so many fancy bikes locked up , I saw a really nice Hunter cross bike locked up with a shitty ¥500 lock in the centre of Harajuku a while ago .

I like the idea a lot, but the few I've seen online with knobbies confuse me - 20" wheel off-road with a derailleur seems like a recipe for sadness.
