The reach on the small 29er is the same are the large 27.5... I don't think Sick knew what they were doing.

I did think the reach was real long on the 29

Presumably the 29er was designed for zero length stems.

It’s possibly not too bonkers if the 29er was supposed to be balls out ridiculous and the 27.5 a bit more conservative. Maybe.

Normally I'd assume a 27.5 to have been designed for more hucky riding than a 29er.

Suspect the seat tube angel - steeper - and the head angle - slacker - and the stack - more of it - counters the longer reach.

You could level the same reach related query at the Stanton 27.5/29er hardtail where the Long 27.5 looks shorter than the standard 29er

Any recommendations for a 24" wheel MTB for an 8-year old? He rides a rigid Pinnacle right now but is getting good and I'd like to get him something which can handle rougher trails.

I spotted a few options and the frontrunner looks like the Saracan Mantra 2.4 for value but any ideas welcome.

Or am I wrong and he should keep learning on a rigid bike? Or should I wait and get a 26" wheel when he's a touch bigger?!

Keep him rigid on 24 I reckon, lighter and won’t do his skill any harm.
