Yeah, taking the lane doesn’t bother me, but I have to do it the whole way from the traffic lights in anticipation, otherwise by the time I need to pull out to go round the cars the traffic would be passing me making it difficult to pull out.
It’s been bliss whilst the schools have been off but I’m not sure I can be arsed to go through the faff of an official complaint as I move house in about a week anyway.

I take the full lane when I encounter something parked in the bike lane, regardless of whether it's needed or not - it usually is anyway, as people who park in bike lanes probably don't consider that they might door someone getting out. I like to think that any drivers who are then so impeded by myself consider that it wouldn't be the case if one of their ilk hadn't blocked the bike lane. It's doubtful they actually think about that though.
