After a weekend in a hired auto Aygo, driving back from the airport in our E61 (525i) was a relief. It’s manual but crucially has cruise control (could be improved with a distance radar thingy) and 6th gear is right in the torque band at motorway speeds, so you waft along barely touching the pedals. The cabin is nicer than the equivalent 3 series and you can chat at normal volumes.
You might get a facelift for ~5 but budget for repairs!
