  • May have two little ones joining our household. My mum runs a cafe in the village in Shropshire which is next to a small mechanics garage. The garage owner opened up the other morning and found a pet carrier with two small kittens in, abandoned behind a concrete block on the forecourt. They’re only 5 or 6 weeks old, were cold, dehydrated and not moving or making any noise, just cuddled up together. Can not express how angry this makes me feel when people do shit like this.
They’re quite poorly with flu and their eyes are infected.
Anyway the vet is going to raise them until they’re a bit older and strong enough, give them jabs and the snip then try to rehome them in a month or so. My parents would take them but they have 2 cats, 15 and 13 years old that probably wouldn’t take kindly to 2 toddlers.
Not set in stone yet but my and my other half might adopt them. Just glad to hear they’re going to be fine and not need putting to sleep.

  • Are they related?

Photograph them every day and then have a montage of how they grew.

  • Welcome to your furever home.

  • I don't understand people that leave animals like that. Why not just take them to a shelter to be rehomed. At a guess there is an unnuetered cat somewhere.

  • Exactly. My mum said “at least they left them somewhere where they knew they’d be found”. I was like “absolutely not, fuck those people. They could have handed them into a shelter with no reprocussions”
(Didn’t swear to my mum though)

  • You are so right, am drugged up on pain killers and the idea of two kittens in this situation is making me tearful.

  • Yes they’re brothers. Bloody awesome little fur balls. Very affectionate already.

My wife takes a billion pictures, so no worries on that front! Just great to have cats in the house again. WE lost our old one a couple of years ago.

  • I agree with you 100%, but some people might think they’d be judged if handing cats to a shelter or they can’t be bothered to go visit a shelter so abandon them in the nearest corner where they cats would be noted.

  • I get that but I’ve no sympathy. The little critters would have been dead if found a few hours later

  • Of course, it would make my blood boil too, but sadly some people just think animals have no feelings. I always think how would they like it if it was them locked inside a tiny box with no access to water and food and not knowing when they’d be found. It is sad... but hey at least these 2 got found, so there is a little something positive. 😊

  • My mate Blue, looking comfy. An odd boy.

  • Fred has got the proper hump about the new arrival and is confining herself to the garden. I hope she gets over it!

  • All I can say is give Fred lots of attention and love, show that fred is still part of your pack.

  • Yes, spot on. Just been feeding Fred morsels from the roast chicken.

  • Careful, it might become expected ;)

    Hope the furballs become friends.

EDIT: Am drinking on pain killers and so far I am feeling angry at the @PhilDAS kittens, and angry with @ExTra neighbours. Some people are just horrible.

  • All is happy in the notRobert household.

I'm upstairs with the kitten Nico who is happy as Larry and enjoying being the centre of my attention.

The kids and Emma are downstairs with Fred who is enjoying being the centre of their attention. In fact, she is asleep on Evan's lap.

  • Kittens eat and poop a helluva lot.

    :-)

  • Yep, and they can create amazing stenches.

So cute with his big ears to grow in to.

  • backyard kitty made it onto the patio this morning and seems to be starting to eat solid food, i've been feeding mum to make sure she's healthy enough to look after kitty and it has now started eating any leftovers, hope the food is ok for it ....... it did have competition for the limited space, stood it's ground until a 2nd squirrel turned up and together they intimidated the little thing out of the feed zone

  • Heidi at 18 months old. A year ago I made a wish that she would maintain her kitten proportions forever. Apparently my wish came true as she is still tiny and cute. She was the runt of the litter so no surprises I guess.

Her hobbies include being afraid of everything, following me or my wife around everywhere, sleeping in the centre of the bed, attacking our feet under the sheets, not allowing us to pick her up for more than 5 seconds, and being totally self sufficient with nutritional intake via insects.

  • That is a brilliant expression. "Urgh, another photograph".

  • Fred (old cat) is not taking the arrival of Nico (kitten) very well. Putting it quite mildly.

Nico's only been with us since Sunday so I'm still hopeful it'll work out in the end, bur I am a bit concerned. At the moment we are keeping Nico in a separate room most of the time, to avoid confrontation.

We've plenty of space, and there are 4 humans to hang out with, so I'm hoping in time they will find their own space / mutual acceptance will sent in.

  • Attention time human...
