  • Whose ancestors dealt out xenophobia sorry? You've lost me.

  • Absolutely. Not heard anyone disputing that? Not sure it means Scotland assumes equal responsibility for the full weight of colonialism or conquest in the name of the crown, however and certainly doesn't seem like Scotland shares the same reputation abroad as England.

You'll need to ask yourself why that might be, apparently my ancestors xenophobia makes my opinions moot.

  • Come on guys, that's all in the past right? Let's just look forward with a positive attitude, yeah?

  • Definitely. Was just thinking how a big fuck off bridge to Ireland would solve everything.

  • How will Boris deal with the "bum boys in tank tops"? Or the "letterbox" shit?

Is he really using the next 5 weeks to rewrite his google search results?

  • Is it a coincidence that it's after the Act of Union that the Empire really takes off.

Perhaps Scotland can't really say it wasn't really us it was those chaps down south....

We were all in it together.

  • Does it fucking matter?

The use of "sweaty", "taff", "english prick" (or it's equivalent) has been determined as language we don't want to see/use.

  • Pretty much every city with a port on the west coast the British Isles benefited from the "Atlantic trade " and therefore slavery.

  • certainly doesn't seem like Scotland shares the same reputation abroad as England.

Fewer opportunities for the footie fans to travel abroad?

    ;-)

  • I remember Manchester being quite the interesting place after Rangers played here a few years back.

  • The BBC had a quick view or radio clip up the other day about how to talk about Brexit without falling out, I think it featured a conflict resolution “expert”.
I can’t find it now, has anyone else seen it or got a link?

  • Christ the stench of piss.

    I believe they're better known as The Pope's O'Rangers. And it's The Queen's Celtic.

  • Hang on. I wasn't there in 08.
There must have been another time in early 00s.

  • Could use that I think. I got annoyed with someone not answering 3 times when I asked her what comparable law to the Nazi Germany "no more government" the UK has*

*none. Note that suspension of parliament is exactly comparable either. Though still a shitty move.

  • Funnily enough Rangers are the Protestant Unionist side of the football equation in Scotland, who have some kind of weird alliance with Chelsea and Millwall ultras, so why they were smashing up another UK city is kind of perplexing although I seem to remember the excuse being something about the big telly in the fan zone not working.

Interesting that the Irish Republican/Catholic Celtic have strong ties to FC St Pauli who are antifascist. Anyway, don't do football for reasons perfectly exemplified above... Petty tribalism and mindless violence for repressed goons.

  • Possibly, which is a shame as after the 78' world cup so many Scots fans just stayed there that I think there was some kind of mini Glasgow in Buenos Aires for a few years. More qualifications could really have done wonders for opening up our gene pool.

  • I’m not sure I understand your question but it’s a bit surprising there haven’t been more “helpful guides”

  • Anyway, don't do... Petty tribalism

    irony

  • Mine (English).

Tbf all of ours to varying degrees I expect, as judged by modern standards.

  • Eh? What, by wanting to be free of the elitist clusterfuck that's been Westminster rule we're being petty are we? Conjoined with Peter Carter's illuminating belief that experiments in Empire are wholly attributable to the Scots being the devil on the English shoulder I think we've got a full house on today's round of Avoidance Bingo.

  • just trolling - couldn’t resist

  • so why they were smashing up another UK city is kind of perplexing although I seem to remember the excuse being something about the big telly in the fan zone not working.

    #football

  • Belfast was a huge cotton mill city on the east coast, but otherwise your post is valid.

  • Using all that cotton grown in County Down right?
