  • like the rest of us

Firm has tweeted that they are helping the police. There is a reason why courier's face is visible when others aren't.

I find the reaction of the blonde lady (black shorts) and dark haired lady (white shirt) both interesting.

  • Coming home last night, north along Millbank towards Parliament. The other direction was completely blocked with traffic, which almost every person on a bike seemed to think meant it was ok to go the wrong way around the traffic island at the zebra crossing by Dean Stanley St, not giving way or even slowing down to let peds cross. An old lady was stood there waiting to cross for ages, while 20-30 bikes came through the zebra crossing on the wrong side of the road, ignoring me and others telling them to stop.

It's hard to dispute that this sort of behaviour gives cyclists a bad name - any pedestrian or motorist watching this would have seen a couple of riders obeying the law while 20x as many were being dicks. I think it's also a case of monkey-see-monkey-do and a good reason to lead by example - I'm sure half of these cyclists don't normally break the law but thought it was fine because "everyone else is doing it".

I did have to laugh though when a guy on a motorbike, who had been shaking his head and gesticulating at the cyclists as they went through the crossing, also went the wrong way around the traffic island after the old lady had crossed.

  • I think the problem here is generally that living in London turns you into a cunt. If you go around giving a fuck about your fellow human beings, you'll never get anywhere.

  • I think the problem here is generally that living in London turns you into a cunt.

"The standard you walk past is the standard you accept."

(But it's easy to get inured to it in London's Famous London.)

  • These are just human behaviours and not exclusively choice of transport based.
As you say it's definitely a case of monkey-see-monkey-do. It reminds of that video of the all cars being driven on the pavement to get passed some road works (until a dude on a bike stops them, and gets an earful for his trouble).

  • Called someone out the other day (very politely). Second ever time calling someone out in person but they really were being a bit dim. Rare example of rural cycling dickotry though.

Descending into Marlow at c60kph, got overtaken by a group of three doing c70kph with no warning and with less than a bar’s width room. Fucking morons.

Tucked in behind them and asked them to shout a warning and give more room next time when we reached the town. They were good about it and apologised tbf.

  • The bearded suspect

    sounds very on here

  • Police believe the man was hit in the Keith Road area

    Oofyah!

  • Saw a bloke on a hybrid nearly kill himself 3 times in 3 junctions up Moorgate this morning. Knew something was afoot when he was track standing at the lights by London wall. This was followed by squeezing between a reversing lorry and a car that was stopped to let it out, under taking a van as it was turning left, and then over taking another van that was turning right. Thankfully Darwinism in action was avoided, but is getting to work 30 seconds earlier on a Friday really that important?

  • To the idiot on the Plug who nearly ran into me this morning having RLJ'ed into the oncoming traffic lane at New Oxford St/Museum St: You, sir, are a knob.

yeah that was me, sorry I'm struggling with controlling the plug, I usually use one of those chrome flip up things instead but had to use the plug for today. I was in a hurry to get home because the Mrs' bath water was running out

Yep that was me. I saw a Columbian stunt rider balancing on a wall and wanted to copy him and so found a wall in London to practice on via google maps.
The 30 seconds was important as it goes, except I ended up being 45 seconds late as I caught my trousers on a pushchair on a crossing further up and it took a while to get untangled and shut the screaming parent up. But it's all good.

  • Blast from the past, haven't seen you on here for yonks.

  • If you want to see RPM, you have to hang around the mean streets.

  • And learn how to wheelie for miles...

  • Classic rpm

  • Blast from the past, haven't seen you on here for yonks.

    hope you're well dude

  • When riding in pitch black with your mega-light on do you dip or cover the light when approaching and passing other cyclist and pedestrians? Or, is this only a West Country thing? They sure as fuck don’t do it in Oxfordshire.

  • Ooh. Oooh. London cyclists wearing those trillion watt head-mounted lamps? >>> hate thread.
(legit grumble: It rarely gets that dark in south-east England, let alone around Blackfriars-fucking-Bridge)

  • Had to tell a cyclist with a headlamp “look away so I can see”

The thing is, it’s mutually beneficial to stop blinding each other.
