    Boringly, for composite and alloy frames used off road, internal is a great idea, because it can prevent complete destruction of the frame by cable rub.

    Yeah sensible cable set up should prevent that but the industry seems unwilling to provide this and consumers are unwilling to pay for it.

    Ah steel stuff I guess the worst is that you lose the paint.

  • I had cross bikes with internal and external routing. External is painful to clean and scratches the paint. Internal is just annoying to route, but you do that just once
