Spent too much time fussing with internal routing at work to agree - Internal routing makes sense on an aerobike, on anything else, it's smug wankery.

Boringly, for composite and alloy frames used off road, internal is a great idea, because it can prevent complete destruction of the frame by cable rub.
Yeah sensible cable set up should prevent that but the industry seems unwilling to provide this and consumers are unwilling to pay for it.
Ah steel stuff I guess the worst is that you lose the paint.

I had cross bikes with internal and external routing. External is painful to clean and scratches the paint. Internal is just annoying to route, but you do that just once

somewhat to blame for this is manufacturers making stupid decisions about where to put cabling options. Almost all internal routing is on the left of the frame, and all disc forks are routed on the left, leaving you with one dumb cable loop regardless of how you cable your disc bike up.

Have had a bit of a love/hate for sscx this last year, and this bike (and the previous version), but after throwing a bit of money at it it's almost where I want it.

I kinda does and kinda doesn't. You either get two points of high chain slack or two points of just-a-little-too-much-but-not-terrible chain tight. Had a friend that ran it tighter and had to explain to him why he was running through bearings like crazy.
One day you will wake up, go to your son's tutti bambini cot and say 'walekum assalam'
