I thought the point of 't-shirt' sizing was to get an idea of relative complexity of tasks, with a small but potentially expandable number of steps.
e.g. decide if each thing is S, M, L, XL, then if you find one that is significantly bigger, you might call it XXL, or might decide the task should be broken down into two.
