Those positions aren't mutually exclusive. The (completely bollocks) implication is that there are so many immigrants that a load of them are taking "all of the jobs" and then more come with no jobs to go into and so they take benefits.

But what they miss there is that you can't get anything as a "I've just arrived here" immigrant, cos you cannot prove you have been resident for long enough [the habitually resident test] and you won't get anything anyway if you cannot prove you -could- get a job, and housing benefit is no longer given but OK...
...having said that a lot of people don't know what the rules are. Hasthtag not only Brexiters.
