  • When are you coming out on the mtb again?

Kid soon, then you'll be stuck with 4am solo rides, like @Howard

  • When are you coming out on the mtb again?

I so want to .. everything is fucked schedule-wise atm .. being an adult suxxxx
The whole point of passing driving test is being able to go MTB

    Badgers will happen (by train)
    Swinley will happen (by train)
    Bedgebury will happen (by car)

    Have faith and send prayers.

I am trying to mimic nino schurter in the gym and failing miserably too!

  • It's ok, not everyone comes back

    Just ask @spotter ;-)

  • the gym

    Dear lord

  • Once you have to drive to the bike ride it's over anyway tbh.

  • We did a Brompton mini tour in the south of France - it was awesome and included gravel.

  • fuck me who made this again? its perfect, i'd totally forgotten about it

I don't know when I'll ever stop laughing at it every time I watch it.

  • I'm more surprised they didn't put bigger tyres on after removing the mudguard from that model.

  • you'll be stuck with 4am solo rides

These are excellent on the proviso that you hate either yourself or all other people.

  • What's a good through axle gravelly fork these days? Thinking of getting mielec to build me a frame but they don't do forks apparently. Would like to use a small front rack and have mudguards.

  • Another (probably unnecessary) thumbs up for the Arkose. Summited Mt. Ventoux last week on the Alfine 8 2018 model. Bearing in mind that this is only my 4th noteworthy ride (instead of 15 minute commutes) in the last 6 months, the gearing was fine. Missed out on the 'still-got-1-gear-in-the-bank' mental support, but got there in the end.

  • why is everyone looking at you?

  • Missed out on the 'still-got-1-gear-in-the-bank' mental support.

The mentality will always be there no matter how many gears you have, even if you have a bigger sprockets/smaller chainring.

As long you're able to keep spinning the cranks without feeling like you have to stand up, you're grand.

  • why is everyone looking at you?

    Shhh, don't mention the helicopter.

  • Because I'm fabulous

  • Well I definitely had to stand for the penultimate km. In addition to stopping about 10 times after Chalet Reynard.

Maybe the gearing was too high after all.

  • Maybe the gearing was too high after all.

22t or even 23t should give you the extra bits (you got 19t I think).

  • why is everyone looking at you?

    Shhh, don't mention the helicopter.

  • The advice is appreciated, but there's no way I'm going anywhere near that big bastard of a hill any time again soon

  • Oh I forgot to mention I got completely lost on the initial ascent. Ended up going off-road for 10km at the start on paths that probably hadn't had footfall for aeons.

Again, the bike handled it marvellously. Refer to thread title, I guess.

  • She said the jungle. It just came alive and took him.

  • Well done. Makes me want that exact arkose model, had forgotten about it. No issues with the EBB?

  • EBB has been faultless, not a peep out of it and easy to adjust.

That being said, the previous owner swapped the chain to a heavy duty one, and in combination with the IGH it's definitely not a silent runner. Doesn't bother me at the moment though.

  • Ribble CGR 725 now has custom colour options. The standard colour scheme didn't really grab me, quite tempted now though.
