Another (probably unnecessary) thumbs up for the Arkose. Summited Mt. Ventoux last week on the Alfine 8 2018 model. Bearing in mind that this is only my 4th noteworthy ride (instead of 15 minute commutes) in the last 6 months, the gearing was fine. Missed out on the 'still-got-1-gear-in-the-bank' mental support, but got there in the end.

Missed out on the 'still-got-1-gear-in-the-bank' mental support.

The mentality will always be there no matter how many gears you have, even if you have a bigger sprockets/smaller chainring.

As long you're able to keep spinning the cranks without feeling like you have to stand up, you're grand.

Well I definitely had to stand for the penultimate km. In addition to stopping about 10 times after Chalet Reynard.

Maybe the gearing was too high after all.
