Soapy water is not a faff. Just pour a dilute solution all over the ri. And for tyre and inate. It could not be easier. If the fit is marginal then compressed air with soapy water normally gets it seated. No soapy water means you can get grief. soapy water is the answer, fitted many tyres now and seen every problem and soapy water works. a compressor pump is helpful too.

This made all the difference for me, no more faffing with soapy water. I partially seated the bead with a lever and it went on first go with a regular floor pump.
