What method are you using?

i've definitely found that descaling can cause my solenoid valve to block in regular succession as (presumably) dislodged scale finds it's way through the machine... might be worth another go

Which is why I tend to tear my boiler apart to descale/clean.

This stuff is banging, thanks @StevePeel !!
Had to go a little bit coarser on the grind compared to the YBCR espresso blend.

Anyone been to the LMNH in Beckenham Place Park yet?

60-70g of coffee/L. Fairly course grind. Coffee in, water in, a quick stir, brew for 2:00 - 2:30. Drink.

Very similar to mine. Read about people letting the grounds bloom and stuff. Tried it but nothing’s been better than that simple method yet.

I'm rarely using super fresh coffee at home (don't actually drink a huge amount at home, always have way more coffee than I can drink 😅) so usually don't really need a bloom. I find keeping it simple means it's way more consistent and I can make recipe adjustments more easily.

Have had my handgound hand grinder for a couple of years and have enjoyed using it.
Realised over the last couple of weeks that the lid wasn’t closing/tightening properly, on closer inspection discovered that the lip of the hopper was broken.Quick google and email to the company and replacement hopper (despite being out of stock on the website) will be winging its way to me, at the original us price rather than the inflated uk amazon price..
Nice customer service..

I have received my wooden handles for my ECM Synchronika.

Took about 6 months as it is more of a hobby than a business for Joey, who also has a family.

Very lovely.
I'm slightly regretting not going whole hog two boiler ECM. Although it's really a minor thing...

Thank you all for the positivity! They are nice handles
I hadn't specified the colour of the handles - just said "wood".
I probably would get a light olive wood instead of the walnut but they do look good and the finish is good too.
Joey also created a prototype portafilter holder with wood cut by my grandfather back in the 50's.

So my electric grinder has packed up after many years of use and I'm looking at a niche coffee grinder, However I would love a ek43s but the price tag is ridiculous!

Slightly annoyingly, I think the OPV on my Gaggia is stuck ie not letting off at pressure. I got my kilo of Ethiopian LFGSS Special from @StevePeel , grind looks about right but it’s quite a dry, light roast so it was rushing through too quickly. I thought I’d take the opportunity to back the pressure off a bit, as is popular with today’s lighter roasts, but it’s made no difference even with -1 turn on the OPV which would equate to about ~8 bar. I should see that. I think next step might have to be a cheap pressure gauge to check what’s going on. Any other ideas?

I’ve got another clearance thing, a bunch of batches I used to dial in the new roaster. I blended them all together, it’s mostly Aricha but some new Kenya, some Guatemala and the new natural Ethiopia Shalaitu. Earliest roast date is about 3 weeks ago. Tastes bright and fruity. There’s 12kg altogether, kg orders again only. £10/kg plus £5.50 postage. Email coffee@yellowbourbon.co.uk with your delivery address and I’ll send it as soon as the invoice is paid. Cheers, Steve.
Clever dripper 💕
