I'm with @danstuff on the costs issue. You said you'd pay their costs, those are their costs. There is just no relevant analogy to a professional engagement regarding invoices as those would have terms attached, which you didn't outline. If you don't like what's come about then I'm afraid that's on you for not being more explicit in your agreement. Eg. "I'll pay your costs, but if you could just let me know beforehand who you're using and how much they're charging, I'd appreciate it". If it were me, I'd stump up and mark it down as a lesson learned. Never assume someone else will conduct themselves in the same manner as you would or would expect.
For cordless vacuums, the Vax Blade 2 Max is cheaper than the Shark and is compatible with fucktons of Vax attachments. Also, 40V is a lot of volts moar than the shark. Don't let @greenhell convince you otherwise just cos he bought the wrong hoover.
