I've decided that I like the cranked gain sound from my Arc Effects Klone more than any other gain pedal I've owned. Can't comment as to other Klones or indeen Klons but It doesn't really do it for me as a clean boost on account of the mid-hump. i LOVE IT as a full-one hairy overdrive though. I think what would be cool is stacking it with another more full range clean-ish boost in font of it. Might try a cheap OD3 for sale in a local s/h shop in that role.
then i'd have TBC for fuzz > OD3 for clean(ish) boost > Klone for overdrive > Rat for distortion > time and modulation stuff
Reckon that should serve up just about every flavour of gain one could ask for.
