It sounds a little off to me. But I am a little cynical.
Why wait a year? Did they do it themselves originally and have come across a receipt? Have they claimed it on insurance and been left with the original receipt?

No they're apparently only just done the repair, a year after the leak.
And the first I heard wasnt a message saying hey were just getting around to doing the repair. But a text message asking if I want a receipt. I guess assuming that I'll just be paying.

Hi, I own the flat directly below no6 (no5). We've finally got round to repainting the ceiling from when water leaked through from the upstairs kitchen. It was a day plus materials for a painter. £240 inc. Would you like a receipt for the work? Cheers
