• Urgh, so I posted in here a few months back after a range rover jumped out in front of me. Finally put in the damages evidence after having an injury amount agreed to yesterday morning. As I was leaving the workshop on the work cargo bike earlier I rode out of the business park, over a small amount of pavement that's basically used as a car park for the car bodywork/spray garage just off it, there's a guy leaning in the window of a range rover that I ride past, I know he works there or runs the place, he calls to me as I pass so I stop, out of the fucking range rover jumps the guy that hit me, yay. Then I ended having a lovely chat with two burly guys, the leanee being the owner of the garage and the driver someone who works for him, the claim is on the garages insurance and causing the owner a right pain (he's pretty friendly actually) he knows my boss and Terry) tries calling his personal number, not the one on my bike, to sort things out like mates. Guy who hit me apparently didn't accept responsibility for the crash willingly and keeps going on about me being drunk and hitting him. I tried to just say I wasn't to sort it properly, don't want to discuss the accident and want to leave but driver is stood blocking my path, not aggressive but obviously not letting me leave. I again try to explain the concept of minor and major roads but can see its not really helping and say I don't want to talk about it, he offers (a decent amount) of cash to sort it but I'm still waiting on the damages which should make the total claim more than his offer, injury amount is just under. I basically want to fuck off and not get into an argument with people that I ride past about 6 times a day, so said once I've got a full amount I'll speak to them first before accepting because I think that'll placate them for now, driver let's me go with a handshake and a completely not ominous "see you in work". I ride round the corner, adrenaline pumping and there's a magpie sat in the road, tried to go to its left and the fucker jumps towards my wheel, think I only hit it's beak and it looked OK over my shoulder but not the best fucking start to the day.

  • Man, sounds pretty shit, you did well to handle it though! Give us a shout tomorrow will ya, or pop down to London, haven't spoken to ya in a while!
