  • I have shimano RS685 brakes on my CDF, when descending, after heavy braking the front pads don’t seem to retract properly and squeezing the brake on hard a few times is needed to push them back (not ideal when trying to ride up the hill on the other side).

I’ve replaced the disc and the caliper, and the brake has been flushed and bled... if anything it’s worse.

Any ideas? Really pissing me off/concerning - got a big trip planned and don’t want to have issues.

  • dab of oil on the side of the pistons

  • Sounds like sticky piston(s).

Remove pads and squeeze lever, careful not to pop the piston out!

Clean the sides of the pistons, push them back, then out, repeat cleaning until you see that both pistons are moving at the same rate.
