  • That's a shame. I knew they'd capped the top end EVs, but didn't realize it was all of them.

Another plus of the Jazz, which is a bit harsh, is that old people tend to drive them so you can often get low mileage ones.

  • "P7 NBH" for a C55 Estate, 2007 vintage.

£1507 annual with black box 👎

  • Yeah looking at trademe constantly!

I have a hire car for a couple of weeks once i start work but after that we need to have bought our own, preferably relatively locally to Dunedin

  • Have a manual honda jazz as a 2nd runaround / work car - extremely reliable and economical although minus points on the cool wall

  • That's less than you'd pay for insuring a 1.0l Yaris or similar as a new driver in Ireland :(

  • honda civic / jazz.

    i've owned 2 and they're indestructaburr.

  • Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon 3.2 V6.

I have the 2.4jtdm version and spent last week doing 2000+km in South of France with it and it was a joy!

  • Lets not forget it'll be coming back to Eire with me next year! Pre 08 2.5l forester is €1080 a year to tax. That's realistically my limit for tax.

  • In that case get a 2.4JTDM also... you'll pick up a really nice one for half your budget.

  • I can't really drive diesel for religious reasons...

  • £1507

Really? I'm pretty shocked it's that low. Is it the black box, your age, or because it's an estate I wonder(?).

Also on the Maglite D chat a while back this is the blub I switched to

was quite a long time ago, so there maybe better options at that price point. But it gives good range and hasn't rinsed the batteries (although it sees extremely infrequent use).

  • in that case .. BRM do you wan2 send me your registration number so I can run a quote?

  • @amey

My current car is my first car, I'm 37 and have had a licence since I was 18 but only bought it last year. 2004 Fiat Panda. Cost £2k with 24,000 miles. Insurance is about £400. Ulez exempt. Roof bars mean I've just fitted a rack and a Thule 561 for bike carrying duties. Might also get a narrow roof box as the boot is a bit small. I'm 6'2" and the driver seat is not all the way back. Regularly carry mini_com in her car seat. At Christmas, we drove to NI and back (1,000 miles total for the holiday) and it didn't miss a beat. The only things I've had to spend money on were a new battery (£50) and two new tyres (£50 each). I will drive it into the ground, but I feel like it's already paid me the £2k.

  • 5 doors too, which is handy. I did throw £100 at a new stereo with BT and DAB as the novelty of the cassette deck wore of quick sharp

  • Will turn on a sixpence and you can park it nearly anywhere

  • Looks like the car that nearly flattened me recently in Mallorca. It was on Russian plates, so bulletproofing isn't entirely impossible.

  • First motorshow I went to as a kid in the 90s had a armoured A8 W12. From memory, it had one-way bulletproof glass you could shoot out of and gas canisters fitted to the wheels to reinflate them for something like 2hrs.

  • This is the sort of winning post I am after 😃

  • Avoid 4 cyl diesels, and not to keen on 4 cyl petrols also shredding timing chains, go for six cylinder all day long petrol or diesel.
Except magnesium block N52 engine they are a pile of rubbish too :)

  • The laying on of hands has an early result:

To check system and investigate issues-£85+vat

    1 x Virtus 402 midrange and separate tweeter-£399+vat

Labour to fit new front speakers, remount rear speakers and remount door mid/woofers-£255+vat

    Labour to fit c/o subwoofer-£255+vat

  • This experiment in in-car audio is proving very expensive.

  • < insert some cliché about the flat 6 being the only audio you need >
