4 Goals in thirty minutes. At least it isn’t boring.

an excellent performance tonight, club record 12th win on the bounce and back top, tickled pink
quote of the evening from liverpool forums
" That’s why David Luiz is a £8m defender. "

Always happy to see spurs shit the bed but how that wasn’t a penalty is beyond me.

Yep my highlights of the weekend.
Haller looking like settling in to the Premier League straight off the bat.
Spurs losing to NUFC
Newport beating Crewe in extra time

3 games in and nicely poised, just 1 point off the European places.
Lol.

Spurs were shit and didn’t deserve anything from that game. well taken goal from jeolinton
-
• #151160
Have Southampton got another Jem with Djenepo he took that goal with such ease and looked a handful
-
• #151161
Totally agree but that was a stonewall penalty turned down in play and on VAR. Daft.

• #151162
No pen for me. Defender slips and Kane changes direction to fall across him. If he follows the ball he stays on his feet.
-
• #151163
But then I would say that, wouldn't I.
-
• #151164
I didn’t think it was a peno. Kane saw lascelles stumble and leaned into it. Should have been a yellow for Kane
-
• #151165
I’d accept that.
Spurs have got 30 points from a possible 63 since January. No wonder they try every trick in the book to turn their abysmal form around.

They've got some decent scouts haven't they - look at some of the players that have come through recently and then off into bigger teams - Mane, Van Dijk, Ings, Wanyama, Tadic. He did look a handy player.

I wouldn’t say Southampton have a strong scouting network. They’re a good stepping stone into the EPL though. None of those names were unknowns. Van Dijk and Wanyama had both done very well at Celtic. Mané was playing for Red Bull Salzburg and Tadic was signed from Twente by Koeman. All for pretty big fees as well.
Ings was a Southampton youth player before being allowed to leave for Bournemouth and then Liverpool, before Southampton signed him again.

Presumably it's the scouts who establish that they'll fit in and that they're actually available for Southampton to buy though?
There are plenty of players coming for big money who don't fit and don't work as stepping stones - look at Joelinton. Maybe that will work out, and he did score on Sunday - but that was £40m for a striker whose best season was 8 goals.
Has any other club been such a consistent stepping stone to bigger clubs for players and managers?

We seem to have become a feeder club for Citeh and Real...

As a saints fan it pains me to look at the list of players who have been and gone over the last ten years, a credit to our ability to either grow players or find relatively cheap gems, this team would do OK I reckon....
a few years out of date but this article talks a little about our "black box" https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37954971

Ings was a Southampton youth player before being allowed to leave for Bournemouth and then Burnley where he had his successful spell and then Liverpool, before Southampton signed him again.

I thought Kane began leaning in to protect the ball from what he thought was going to be a shoulder to shoulder. defender fell and wiped him out. penalty.
Derby West Brom however saw two penalties given which weren't at all. Haven't heard whether pereira slipped or dived for ours but it looked very much like a dive. In which case we have loaned a talented diving c*nt

Aye, it was a hell of a dive. But our defender probably should’ve tried staying on his feet in the box when we’d been awarded two penalties in the game already.
Bit of a “meh” start to our season so far. Hoping we get going soon and get some decent points on the board. Maybe starting in the League Cup tonight?
Are we the next Newcastle?
