  • Either that or locally hardened from the TIG heat. My BB tool hasn't been used much but I have ordered new taps for it. Hopefully that helps

  • I see, take it this would be because things get so much hotter with tig? Ie shouldn’t be so much of an issue if brazing to the bb shell?

    The threaded shells I’ve used thus far have been lugs, the shell I fillet brazed to was a massive chunky ebb thing. Next frame will be a threaded shell that I’ll be fillet brazing to so trying to understand where I might run into issues.

  • You def wont want a heatsink for fillet brazing or silver soldering.
    When TIG welding the shell you get quite a lot of heat locally and as you have cold bit else where it warps.
    Heat sinks prevents this but they are either expensive or time consuming to make so I thought I'd get away with it.
